7:04 am - The alpenglow breaks in a beautiful fox-red orange hue. The heavy snow has slowed my progress, and I am not where I wanted to be for a good picture. Given the deep snow, I probably should have left an hour earlier.


I continue on the Tuckerman Crossover, which has some really great views of the Washington summit cone.

The cycle of on again, off again with the snowshoes continues over wildly varying snow depths.

Now that I can see Monroe, I realize that it is still pretty rocky looking - I am relieved that I haven't missed the golden photo-op after all. Sour grapes are not just for foxes :)
